A love lost forever

Everywhere I look and everyone I see,
all seem to be happy, except for me.
It's all my fault, I take the blame.
Now I hang my head in shame.
He promised he'd be faithful, but that was not to be,
Little did I know he was only using me.
We made all kinds of plans for our future, you see,
I'd never been so happy when he said that he loved ME.
My world came crashing down when I received the call,
The woman on the other end would soon tell me all.
Not only did he have a child, he also had a wife,
His lying and deceiving was about to wreck my life.
I'm sure I will move on one day, but I wish we'd never met,
I try so very hard, but I'm still not over you yet.
Last year was the happiest time that I had ever known,
I never imagined that I'd be sitting, crying on my own.
I wonder if you realise the damage that you've done,
Of course you don't, you never cared - I never was "the one."
Spring has passed and now summer is on the way,
I'm slowly getting on with life - day by day.
Everywhere I look and everyone I see,

Thank you for your comment. It's always good when something positive comes out of a situation. We all have to face experiences in life that aren't pleasant, but being able to write about it definitely feels better.

Thanks for your comment Little Kim. Im sure I wont be the last person to be hurt in this way. It does get easier day by day. Writing about experiences helps to release feelings I find. Best wishes to you.
Poignant and unfortunately true for many relationships. Many will say move on, but the actual process can be more difficult. It's just sad that in spite of the love you have given, trust is broken. Life sometimes really sucks. We just get back up and learn from it.
You are so right jpcmc, fortunately we do learn from our past mistakes, and without trying to sound like my mother - "Time is a great healer."

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem and comment on it. It happened a long time ago, but in some ways feels like yesterday. Thankfully I am in a wonderful relationship with my fiance now and I just put it down to a bad experience which now seems distant. The old saying "time heals all wounds" is so relevant here.

I love the evolution of this poem; it starts of in despair and ends up coming all the way back around to hope. Wonderful. I am sorry you had to experience this but at least this beautiful expression came out of it? Good job.
